Amateur Catholic: What In the World is this Nonsense?

After a rather long hiatus, I am returning to blogging.  Is blogging even a thing anymore?  This is mostly for me, but if others find it and find something useful in it then great!   Since I have been away for so long, it will be a process to get the blog up and running as a whole.  Bear with me as I fine tune this thing.

The title of the blog "Amateur Catholic" comes from the definition of "amateur" meaning that one is not a paid for what it is they do.  In other words, I am not a professional Catholic.  I do not get paid for being Catholic.  In fact, there are no professional Catholics.  Therefore, I am an amateur among amateurs.

Also, the name indicates that because I am not a professional Catholic, one should not expect professional work.  Chesterton once said, "If a thing is worth doing, it is worth doing badly."  Writing out my ideas and such, like with my previous blog, seemed worth doing and it was also done badly.  I hope to continue that trend in my own writing here.  As Such, this blog is also my attempt to get over my own perfectionism that over the last few years has led me to not do things that I should have or wish I had done.  So, the blog posts might contain in them everything that would be deemed badly done in terms of blogging and writing and even thinking.

Lastly, I am not an expert in all thing I post on here.  I have a degree in general studies, so I can specifically speak rather generally about all things.  I  have an MA in theology, so I can speak rather confidently on certain religious doctrines, themes, and ideas.

I am open to feedback and criticism.
